Shabbat Shalom from Rabbi Arnow 2/23/2024

Dear Kol Rinah Family,

Here's a link to my sermon from last Shabbat, with some reflections on why the Mishkan (aka Tabernacle) is the most quintessentially Jewish construction project.

The Jewish Federation of St. Louis is planning a short "Solidarity Mission to Israel" April 7-12, 2024. I am planning on going.  If you're interested in going too, let me know and I'll send you the information.

I'm excited for a musical Shabbat tonight and tomorrow.

Candle lighting is at 5:30pm.
Kabbalat Shabbat with Will Soll (with instruments!) and me will start at 6pm tonight. No snow is predicted--come and sing with us!

Tomorrow morning, Kol Chadash, our musical service, will start at 9:30am.  Hope to see you and sing with you!

Shabbat ends at 6:28pm.

Last Saturday, following kiddush, our member Hedva Levy spoke about her new book, Maybe It’s Your Medications: Why We Need to Talk. Click on the link for an opportunity to buy a signed copy of the book, a portion of the proceeds to benefit Kol Rinah.

On Sunday morning at 9:15am, as part of our KoREH Speakers Series, our member Ilana Luft Barrett, who is a psychologist, and I will talk with parents about talking to kids about death, and specifically suicide.  How do we talk about suicide with kids when our kids hear about it, from media, the news or our/your community?  And what should we be on the lookout for to keep our kids healthy and safe?  This is an important conversation and all are welcome.

Later on Sunday, we'll be having our winter blood drive.
Details and sign-up are here --we have more slots still to fill!  Walk-ins are welcome!

Finally, March 8-10, Dr. Mara Benjamin will be our scholar-in-residence, teaching over Shabbat on "
Climate Change, Climate Catastrophe: Exploring the Limits of Jewish Wisdom."  The whole schedule with details and dinner sign-up, is here.  She's a terrific scholar and teacher, and an old friend of mine too.  She's doing some of the most cutting-edge Jewish theology on climate change.  Don't miss it!

The Purim mailing went out, and all the
Purim details are also here!

For more and collected Israel information, see this page on our website, as well as the Jewish Federation of St. Louis's Israel Resources page

Every Shabbat morning, we are still reciting a
prayer for the State of Israel, a prayer for Israel Defense Forces soldiers, and a prayer for hostages.

May the one who makes peace in the heavens make peace over us, and over all Israel, and over all who dwell in the world.

See you in shul,
Rabbi Noah Arnow
