Dear Kol Rinah Family,

One unexpected thing that happened Saturday night was that people were there with the new petition to sign to put reproductive rights on the ballot in Missouri, which I had spoken about in my sermon that morning. I was proud to sign, and there will be other opportunities to sign at Kol Rinah, including on Purim.
This will be a busy and full Shabbat at shul.
Candle lighting is at 5:22pm.
Kabbalat Shabbat with Karen Kern and Will Soll (with instruments!) will start at 6pm tonight. It's snowing now--if you feel you can come safely, do!
Tomorrow morning, we'll start at 9am.
Joyce Olshan will be leading Torah Talk, starting at about 10:10am. Her working title is, "Come and Bring Your Dolphin Skins!"
Karen Kern will be leading Tot Shabbat at 10:45am.
Kiddush will follow services, and following kiddush, our member Hedva Levy will be speaking about her new book, Maybe It’s Your Medications: Why We Need to Talk. Click on the link also for an opportunity to buy a signed copy of the book, a portion of the proceeds to benefit Kol Rinah.
Saturday afternoon starting at 4:25pm, we'll have Shabbat mincha, some learning and food with a bit of singing, ma'ariv and havdalah. Come join us!
Shabbat ends at 6:21pm.
Our Grief Havurah, led by Rabbi Jessica Shafrin, will be meeting next on Wednesday, February 21 at 6:30pm here at the synagogue. You don't need to have come previously to attend.
Next Friday night (2/23) we'll have a full musical Friday night service, as well as Kol Chadash on Saturday morning (2/24, starting at 9:30am).
Next Sunday (2/25), at 9:15am, as part of our KoREH Speakers Series, our member Ilana Luft Barrett, who is a psychologist, and I will talk with parents about talking to kids about death, and specifically suicide. How do we talk about suicide with kids when our kids hear about it, from media, the news or our/your community? And what should we be on the lookout for to keep our kids healthy and safe?
Later next Sunday (2/25), we'll be having our winter blood drive. Details and sign-up are here --we have more slots still to fill!
Finally, March 8-10, Dr. Mara Benjamin will be our scholar-in-residence, teaching over Shabbat on "Climate Change, Climate Catastrophe: Exploring the Limits of Jewish Wisdom." The whole schedule with details and dinner sign-up, is here.
